I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve been asked what the best diet is and how many calories should you consume. In the beginning stages of my practice, I invested in a metabolic respirator to accurately define exactly how many calories people should be consuming. The results always fell within the same range for typical conditions like obesity and diabetes. Secretly, I wanted the machine to divide my subjects into smaller categories, rather than having a pretty consistent reading for both genders. Women usually fell within the 1,500 calories-per-day and men hovered around 2,000.
