Mission Statement & Philosophy: Stella Metsovas integrates research-backed information to create the ultimate, dietary-prescription based on your unique biochemistry, lifestyle, and physiology. No meal plans or calorie-dependent diets, just individual, specific, nutrition.

Methodology: “Individual. Specific. Nutrition”

IndividualComprehensive analysis is generally overlooked in clinical practice.  It’s imperative to identify imbalances and/or issues related to digestion, metabolism and lifestyle – by examining data provided by the client

Specific: Fad diets come and go.  The multi-billion-dollar-a-year diet industry constantly looks for strategies to lure in money from consumers; all the while misleading them into thinking they are getting personalized diets. The most accurate personalized approach is to use diagnostic measures, such as:

  • Respiratory testing: to figure out resting expenditure and metabolic rate
  • Blood testing: to understand underlying micronutrient deficiencies
  • Stool testing:  for yeast imbalance and gut-transit issues
  • Genetic testing: salivary tests for hormones and their metabolic influences (e.g., cortisol and digestion)

Nutrition: “One man’s food is another man’s poison.” Understanding nutrient interactions within our bodies is key to achieving good health. Nutrition is the foundation to optimal health.

Facing an Overweight
Electorate, Barack Obama
Might Find Low Body Fat a
Drawback
By AMY CHOZICK
Speaking to donors at a San Diego fund-raiser last month, Barack Obama reassured the crowd that he wouldn’t give in to Republican tactics to throw his candidacy off track.
“Listen, I’m skinny but I’m tough,” Sen. Obama said.
But in a nation in which 66% of the voting-age population is overweight and 32% is obese, could Sen. Obama’s skinniness be a liability? Despite his visits to waffle houses, ice-cream parlors and greasy-spoon diners around the country, his slim physique just might have some Americans wondering whether he is truly like them.

LOST 12 LBS.!
BY EATING LESS WHITE FLOUR

Jim Nesbitt cross-trained five days a week and was fairly trim at 174 lbs. Except, he says, “my belly stuck out.” Frustrated, the Tustin, Calif., computer network broker, 46, hired nutritionist Stella Metsovas, who noticed he ate a lot of floury foods. “I love my pizza, pasta and bread,” says the dad of 7-year-old twins.

What Can I Eat On A Detox Diet? Nutritionist Stella Metsovas Explains

“What can I eat on a detox” is a question I’m commonly asked by my clients?  Working as a clinical nutritionist in Los Angeles and Orange County, I hear the “Oh, I’m on a detox” statement quite often. It could be at a coffee/tea shop, out to lunch, or at the gym. Whenever I hear this statement, I’m always curious about what kind of fast in which they’re engaged, but never indulge in asking.

As a clinical nutritionist who specializes in human nutrition and metabolism, I’m aware of two types of fasts: The one that makes sense and the other that is just plain stupid. Stanley Burroughs Master Cleanse is a colossal example of the just plain stupid fast. Those who partake are sipping lemonade sweetened with maple syrup for a minimum of 10 days — and even as long as 45 days.

USA Swimmer Francis “Fran” Crippen (April 17, 1984 – October 23, 2010)

I began working with Fran during 2007 – 2008.  In my opinion, he was the perfect athlete: hard working, never complained, always followed ‘the rules’ to a tee.   Fran was always interested in how to better himself in the water by consuming the best foods available.  We used a few methods to develop a plan suitable for his training needs, which included: a food rotation diet to discover any intolerance’s to foods, FDA-approved metabolic assessment, source of calories versus amount of calories, etc…

When I received the news of Fran’s passing, I simply could not believe Fran would have died in the manner initially expressed by the United Arab Emirates Swimming Federation.  Time will soon tell the true nature of all circumstances surrounding the event.

Rest in Peace
