Hi. My name is Stella Metsovas, and I make a career out of studying, cooking and eating food. And, today, we’re going to talk about the healthiest way to eat food. Now, first and foremost, you need to understand one important thing about eating healthy and that is, it’s the most preventable measure you can take for your health. That is conclusive, there’s research backing that up and you need to know that for longevity and optimal health. Now, with eating healthy, it’s important that you understand how your plate should look. Now, I have a dinner-size plate here. You want to always use your palm as a serving size, assuming you live a typical, day-to-day lifestyle. So you want more than half of it to be vegetables, yes, I said vegetables. You can have legumes, you can have whole grains like this sprouted bread, I absolutely love. But, you want to make sure that vegetables are a large part of your diet. Reason being there’s a lot of phytonutrients in there and it’s just so, so beneficial to your digestive system. You want to have quality fats like coconut oil, olive oil, grass-fed butter, avocados, some fruit. Don’t overdo the fruit, you don’t want too much of a good thing because it’s still sugar. You have this bounty of vegetables right here. Always try to aim for seasonal produce, definitely want to try to do that because, if you consume foods that are out of season, it’s a little more difficult to break down in your digestive system. You want to make sure that you’re also consuming lean proteins. Having a little bit of fat in your animal-based protein is okay but try to aim for the lean, organic, pasture-raised, like this beautiful chicken right here. Fish is also really optimal to have. And, then, of course, grass-fed beef, eggs, dairy is good, like a Greek yogurt. My name is Stella Metsovas, and today we talked about the healthiest way to eat food.
