Hi. My name is Stella Metsovas, and today we’re going to talk about how to indulge a craving healthfully. So, let me ask you a question: How often are you getting these cravings? Do you feel that they’re happening every day at certain times of the day? If you answered yes, you want to make sure that you identify what time of day, make sure you are hydrated at that time, because a lot of people are dehydrated. And, what happens is, the body craves sugar when it’s dehydrated, believe it or not. You would think salt but it’s actually sugar, because sugar is a quick release of energy. And what happens at that time, is people crave caffeine with sugar added, soft drinks, sugars, candies, desserts. So, you want to throw that out, make sure you’re hydrated and, if you want to indulge a craving, if it’s a healthful way to indulge a craving, make sure you use things like Greek yogurt, which can taste very similar to ice cream. One of my favorite recipes is Greek yogurt, heat up a little bit of dark chocolate, make sure the chocolate’s at least 75% cocoa, heat it up, drizzle it over the yogurt, add a few walnuts on there and you have a, basically, chocolate sundae, but a healthy one. Another recipe I absolutely love are frozen bananas. I keep these frozen bananas in my freezer at all times. All you have to do is take out one or two bananas, put them in a blender, with a tiny bit of almond milk, blend it together and you literally have the consistency of an ice cream. You can add a little bit of walnut on there and you will definitely indulge in that craving, but you’re going to indulge healthfully. So make sure, if you have these cravings, first identify if they’re very common, fix it and then, when you get to the real craving, which we all have, make sure it’s healthy.
