Greek Tzatziki Recipe

Hi, my name is Stella Metsovas, and today we’re going to make a Greek yogurt sauce that’s made out of Greek yogurt, dill and cucumber, it’s called Tzatziki.

It’s often served with souvlaki which is a meat skewer, or on top of hero, gyro. And often can go with fish and my personal favorite: dipping roasted vegetables in it; I love this dish!

  • 1 medium cucumber, grated
  • 1 1/2 cups Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Celtic sea salt
  • pinch, ground pepper

Cook's Note

I prefer not to use sour cream for an authentic, Greek tzatziki!

  • Grate the cucumber and place in a strainer; drain most of the water content by gently pressing down on the cucumber meat.
  • Place the cucumber in a bowl and add the Greek yogurt, garlic, dill, sea salt and pepper; stir all the ingredients together by hand, paying careful attention not to overmix.
